Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl, crumble the cottage cheese (chhena) and add sugar. Mix well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • STEP 2.Add cardamom powder and mix again.
  • STEP 3.Grease a heatproof dish or a steaming tray with ghee or oil. Transfer the cottage cheese mixture to the dish and spread it evenly.
  • STEP 4.Cover the dish with aluminum foil or a lid to prevent water from entering.
  • STEP 5.Place the dish in a steamer and steam for about 20-25 minutes on medium heat.
  • STEP 6.Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool completely.
  • STEP 7.Cut the steamed sandesh into desired shapes and garnish with chopped nuts (optional).
  • STEP 8.Serve chilled or at room temperature. Bhapa Sandesh can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
