A classic gujarati thepla dish that combines leftover rice, besan, vegetables and spices. Bhaat Ka Thepla Recipe is a delicious thepla made along with rice, a few spices herbs making it a super simple and delicious dish when you have just basic staples at home. Bhaat Na Thepla’s are flat breads made from leftover rice; that is combined with gram flour, asafoetida and vegetables to make a wholesome nutritious one dish dinner. Thepla are known to be wheat flour based breads. Here Bhaat Na Thepla is made from rice and unlike wheat theplas these are patted on a wet napkin and inverted on the skillet.

Ingredients for Bhaat Ka Thepla Recipe

  • 2 cup Cooked Rice
  • 1/2 cup Besan
  • 1/4 cup Carrots grated
  • 1 No.s Onion Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilly powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1 Green chilly chopped Nos
  • bunch Coriander chopped

Directions: Bhaat Ka Thepla Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.In a mixing bowl put 2 cups of soft cooked rice, ¼ cup besan which helps to bind the roti or thepla together. Add ¼ cup grated carrots, 1 chopped onion, ½ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp red chilli powder, 1 chopped green chilly, ¼ tsp asafoetida, 1 small bunch chopped coriander leaves and salt to taste.

  • STEP 1.Mash it together very well to combine. Once it is all combined, it is time to form balls.

  • STEP 1.For this wash hands, dry them and grease the palms of the hands so that the mixture does not stick. Take portions of the mixture and make big size balls that fit in the cup of your hand.

  • STEP 1.Place a moist muslin cloth or cotton handkerchief on a flat rolling surface, place the ball on it and press down gently to make a thick circular thepla .

  • STEP 1.Heat a flat pan, carry the muslin cloth that has the thepla and gently flip it onto the hot pan.let it cook for a few minutes for the besan to cook. Press it down lightly to ensure that the centre also cooks evenly. Apply 1 tsp ghee and gently flip it over and spread 1 tsp ghee on the other side as well. Cook it for sometime till brown spots appear on both sides. Remove it from the pan.

  • STEP 1.When making the next thepla, moisten the cloth again and then place the ball to be pressed into a thepla. Repeat the process till all theplas are made.
