Batata Vada is a popular Mumbai street food snack. In Marathi language ‘potatoes’ are called as ‘batata’ and ‘vada’ means a ‘fried snack’. Hence the name.

Ingredients for Batata Vada Recipe

  • 1/4 cups Gram flour
  • 0.06 tsp Carrom seeds
  • 0.06 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 0.06 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 0.06 tsp Garam masala
  • 0.06 tsp Chaat masala
  • 1.25 Tbsp Coriander leaves chopped
  • as required Water as required for making batter
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 pieces Boiled Potatoes
  • 1/4 Pieces Onion
  • 1.50 Pieces Garlic
  • 1/4 Pieces Ginger
  • 1/2 Pieces reen Chilli
  • 0.06 tsp Red chilli powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 0.06 tsp Garam masala
  • 0.06 tsp Chaat masala
  • 0.06 tsp Carrom seeds
  • 0.06 tsp Coriander seeds
  • as required Cooking oil for deep frying

Directions: Batata Vada Recipe

  • STEP 1.👉Mix all the ingredients for making batter i. e., gram flour, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala, chaat masala, carrom and coriander seeds in a mixing bowl.
  • STEP 2.👉Add water and make batter of thick consistency. Keep aside.
  • STEP 3.👉In a separate pan add all the ingredients for vada.
  • STEP 4.👉Mash and mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  • STEP 5.👉Now make small balls of lemon size.
  • STEP 6.👉Heat oil in a karahi and dip potato ball in batter and put vadas one by one and deep fry till golden brown colour.
  • STEP 7.👉Flip the side and fry from other side also.
  • STEP 8.👉Serve hot with sauce.
