Bariyakki in Kannada translates to only rice. The only one ingredient that you need to make this dose is rice & of course some water & salt. This is also known as neer dosa coz of thin watery batter. Neer in Kannada means water...hence the name neer dosa.

  • as required Rice
  • as required water
  • as required Salt

Directions: Bariyakki Dose / Neer Dosa Recipe

  • STEP 1.Wash rice repeatedly ..soak for 4-5 hours.
  • STEP 2.Discard soaked water..rinse once.
  • STEP 3.Add to grinding jar or wet grinder.
  • STEP 4.Grind smoothly.
  • STEP 5.Transfer to a bowl.
  • STEP 6.Add salt & water required to make thin batter.
  • STEP 7.But before adding water keep aside a bowlful of thick batter. In case you add excess water & not able to make dosa..then you can add this reserved thick batter to adjust consistency.
  • STEP 8.Heat a tawa(easy to make in non-stick)
  • STEP 9.Grease well.
  • STEP 10.Splash the batter gently allover.
  • STEP 11.Cook on med. flame till it looks cooked.
  • STEP 12.Fold twice to make triangle..remove on a plate.
  • STEP 13.Stays soft even after hours.
  • STEP 14.This is usually served with pickle and kayi bella which literally means coconut jaggery.
  • STEP 15.Mix freshly grated coconut with jaggery to taste, little cardamom powder, small pinch salt, a drop of ghee. Mix well. Serve with dosa.
  • STEP 16.Batter can be made well in advance & stored in refrigerator until you use.
