Banh Cuon Recipe

Bnh cun is a Vietnamese dish made of steamed rice batter rollers filled with minced pork and vegetables. It is traditionally served with bean sprouts, slices of cucumbers, fresh chopped herbs, steamed pork sausage, fried onions, and fish sauce for dipping. Banh Cuon is popularly called the rolled cake from Northern Vietnam.

Ingredients for Banh Cuon Recipe

  • As required Batter
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 3/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 2 tablespoon Oil
  • pinch Salt
  • 3.83 cup Warm Water
  • As required FILLING
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 pound add ground pork
  • 3 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup chopped jicama
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 1 cup re hydrated wood ear mushrooms, chopped
  • As required cracked pepper
  • As required Fish dipping sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoon rice vinegar

Directions: Banh Cuon Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Prepare the batter in a mixing bowl add 1 cup rice flour, ¾ cup tapioca flour, 2 tbsp oil, a pinch of salt, and 3 ½ cups warm water, mix well, and set aside for 15-20 minutes.

  • STEP 2.Fish sauce in a small bowl add 2tbsp sugar, 2tbsp rice vinegar, 2tbsp fish sauce, and ⅓ cup warm water, keep stirring until the solid ingredients dissolve.

  • STEP 3.For the filling in a large pan drizzle some olive oil and let it heat. Then add 1tbsp minced garlic and saute for a couple of minutes.

  • STEP 4.Now add ½ lb ground pork cook and let it break down into small pieces.

  • STEP 5.Add the seasonings- 1tbsp fish sauce, 1tsp sugar, 1tsp kosher salt and mix all the ingredients well with ground pork.

  • STEP 6.Then add 1 cup chopped jicama, ½ cup chopped onions, 1 cup rehydrate wood-ear mushrooms (chopped), and cracked pepper. Cook it for 3-5mins.

  • STEP 7.For the wrapper take a non-stick pan, add 1tsp oil, and wipe it. Add ½ ladle of batter, spread around evenly, cover it with a lid and let it cook for 1 or until translucent.

  • STEP 8.Wrap up the filling, add around 2 tbsp filled and wrap like a burrito. Top it with fresh bean sprouts, chopped mint, fried onions, and chopped cucumbers.

  • STEP 9.Serve it with the fish sauce.
