  • 0.13 cup Jaggery
  • 0.06 cup Grated Coconut

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.In a blender, grind together ripe bananas, jaggery, and coconut to make a smooth paste.
  • STEP 2.In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, semolina, cardamom powder, and baking soda.
  • STEP 3.Add the banana mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well to form a thick batter.
  • STEP 4.Grease a steamer plate or idli molds with oil and pour the batter into them.
  • STEP 5.Steam the vattayappam for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • STEP 6.Once done, remove from the steamer and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • STEP 7.Cut into pieces and serve warm or at room temperature.
  • STEP 8.Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
