Ingredients for Banana Chips/Ethakka Upperi Recipe

  • 2 No.s Raw Plantain/ Ethakka
  • 1 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • As required Water
  • 1 cup Coconut Oil
  • As required To tate Salt

Directions: Banana Chips/ethakka Upperi Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 clean and cut both ends of plantain. Remove the plantain skin using a knife. Keep it in a bowl.

  • STEP 2.2 take turmeric powder in a bowl. To make a thick paste add some water and mix well.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 pour this over plantain and add some more water to it, so that the plantain can be immersed in water. Let it rest for 15mins.

  • STEP 4.4 drain the excess water from plantain and pat dry with a paper towel.

  • STEP 5.5 slice it into very thin pieces.

step 6

  • STEP 6.6 heat oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the sliced plantain.

step 7

  • STEP 7.7 gently stir so that the plantain slices won’t stick together.

step 8

  • STEP 8.8 take a bowl and mix 1 tbsp salt with 2 tbsp water.

step 9

  • STEP 9.9 when it is half done, gradually sprinkle the salt water solution.

step 10

  • STEP 10.10 fry for 3-4 mins. Transfer it to a paper towel.

step 11

  • STEP 11.11 tummy and crispy banana chips/ethakka upperi is ready to be served.
