Ingredients for Baked Vella seedai/Baked jaggery seedai Recipe

  • A Few Drops Coconut oil for brushing
  • 1 Cup Rice flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Urad dal flour
  • 2 Teaspoon Fresh grated Coconut
  • 1/2 Teaspoon White sesame seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon Ghee
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cardamom powder

Directions: Baked Vella Seedai/baked Jaggery Seedai Recipe

  • STEP 1.1. Dry roast rice flour (you can use either store bought raw rice flour or home made )on low flame without changing color till it becomes hot and also you can see flour moving freely in opposite direction in which you roast . Once cooled sieve it
  • STEP 2.2. Dry roast 1 cup of whole white urad dal till golden and once cooled powder and seive it finely
  • STEP 3.3. In mixing bowl add 1 cup of roasted rice flour , 1 teaspoon roasted urad dal flour ,1 teaspoon ghee ,2 teaspoon fresh grated coconut, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder and 1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds .Mix them well 4. In another pan add 3/4 cup jaggery and add 1/4 cup water and allow to boil well till it gets dissolved completely and forms syrup. Strain and keep it aside 5. Now add this syrup little by little to flour mixture and knead to soft but stiff dough and not too loose or too tight 6. Allow it to cool completely and also let it absorb flavours. Now , take lemon size ball and roll it gently and make balls out of it and spread on clean white cloth .Allow it to dry for sometime before baking them .
  • STEP 4.Meantime preheat oven to 200 degree Celsius For 10 minutes and Once seedai dries reduce temperature to 180 degree and bake them for 6 minutes and brush with little ghee or oil on top and flip over and allow to bake again for 6 minutes. Once done , reduce temperature to 170 degree and brush other side again with little oil or ghee and continue to bake for 3 minutes. Flip over and bake again for 3 minutes. Tasty Vella/jaggery Seedai Is ready . Since jaggery is added, it may seem soft but upon cooling. Will turn out crisp so don’t bake for too long else it would turn hard and rubbery Enjoy Vella seedai guiltfree and Welcome little Krishna in healthy manner .
