An easy and simple snack of baked lotus root chips. Lotus root is very nutritious and contains many properties that make it an especially healthy ingredient to consume. The large amount of vitamins and minerals it contains include Vitamin B, Vitamin C, iron, potassium, copper, thiamin, and zinc, among others. It is also a good source of protein and dietary fiber. The lotus root is a staple of Asian cuisine with a unique pattern that, when sliced, echoes the sacred lotus flower floating above it.

Directions: Baked Lotus Root Chips Recipe

  • STEP 1.Use a potato peeler and peel the lotus root. Cut off the ends.

  • STEP 1.Slice the root into ⅛ inch thick round slices.

step 3

  • STEP 1.Grease a baking tray by applying oil on the inner surface of the tray to prevent the lotus root slices from sticking.

  • STEP 1.Arrange the lotus root slices in the tray and place the tray in a preheated oven at 350 degrees fahrenheit.

  • STEP 1.Bake for 10 minutes on one side. Then take the ray out of the oven and flip all the slices of lotus root.

step 6

  • STEP 1.Return the tray to the oven and continue to bake for another 10 minutes.

step 7

  • STEP 1.When cooked through, take the lotus root chips out of the oven and sprinkle salt or Chinese five spice powder and toss. Lotus roots are ready.
