  • 1/2 tablespoon Split Yellow Moong Dal
  • 1/4 cup Jaggery
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Milk

  • 1/4 tablespoon Raisins

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and soak the rice and lentils for 30 minutes.
  • STEP 2.Pressure cook the rice and lentils until they are soft and mushy.
  • STEP 3.In a separate pan, melt jaggery with water and strain to remove impurities.
  • STEP 4.Add the jaggery syrup to the cooked rice and lentils and mix well.
  • STEP 5.Add coconut milk and simmer the payasam for a few minutes.
  • STEP 6.In a small pan, heat ghee and roast the nuts and raisins until golden.
  • STEP 7.Garnish the payasam with the roasted nuts and raisins.
  • STEP 8.Serve the Arisi Paruppu Payasam warm or chilled.
