Although, this simple Instant Rava Appe recipe has mainly rava (suji), curd, water in it which an onion tadka. If you want to add more grated veggies like carrots, cabbage in the batter that will also work perfectly.

Ingredients for Appe Recipe

  • to taste Salt
  • a pinch Of baking soda
  • 0.33 tbsp mustard (sarso) oil
  • 0.17 g reen Chilli
  • 0.17 g Inch ginger
  • 0.33 cups suji
  • 0.33 Pieces suji
  • As Required Onion
  • 0.17 cup Curd
  • As Required Oil as needed

Directions: Appe Recipe

  • STEP 1.First make batter.
  • STEP 2.Take rava (suji/semolina) and curd in a bowl. Whisk the mixture well so that there are no lumps in the batter.
  • STEP 3.Next, add water to the batter, mix well and then add salt.
  • STEP 4.Then, add baking soda and mix. Keep the batter aside for at least 20 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Meanwhile, in a pan add 1 tsp oil, add mustard and cumin seeds when the oil is warm enough. Add green chilies, curry leaves, onion, and ginger.
  • STEP 6.Add this to the instant rava appe batter and mix well. Also add coriander leaves and mix.
  • STEP 7.Then, in an Appam Patra (Appam patra is a special pan for making appe, see in the image below), add some oil and when the oil is warm, add 1 tbsp of batter.
  • STEP 8.Depending on the Appam Patra, be careful while adding the batter as some appam patras or pans might be a little wobbly.
  • STEP 9.Cover it and let it cook for 2 minutes on low flame or until the bottom is golden brown. Once the bottom side is golden brown, flip the appe.
  • STEP 10.Let the other side of the appe cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • STEP 11.Once cooked, serve hot with South-Indian coconut peanut chutney
