  • 1/2 Tomatoes, Chopped
  • 1/4 Onion, Finely Chopped
  • 1/2 Green Chilies, Slit
  • 1.13 Lic Cloves, Minced
  • 0.13 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • as per your need A Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tablespoon Oil
  • As required Salt To Taste

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Pressure cook toor dal with water, turmeric, and chopped tomatoes until soft and mushy.
  • STEP 2.In a separate pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and curry leaves for tempering.
  • STEP 3.Add chopped onions, green chilies, and garlic to the tempering and saut��� until onions turn golden brown.
  • STEP 4.Add the cooked dal to the pan and mix well. Simmer for a few minutes and adjust the consistency.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice and ghee.

Cooking Tips

  • You can add tamarind pulp for extra tanginess.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer green chilies.
  • Toor dal can be substituted with masoor dal or moong dal.

Storage and Serving

  • Leftover pappu can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
