How to Make Amritsar Ajwain Paneer Recipe

STEP 01

For the masala freshly grind 1 inch ginger, 1 green chilli, 2 cloves of garlic, 2 cloves (lavang). Grind to a coarse paste. Then add 1 ½ tsp ajwain seeds and continue to grind. Do not make a fine paste.

STEP 02

In a preheated pan add 1 tsp oil and saute the ground masala on low heat for a few seconds.

STEP 03

Next add 1 finely chopped onion and saute on low heat for 3 to 4 minutes till the onion becomes soft and the aromas of the ground mixture begins to come through.

STEP 04

Then add 1 cup cooked tomato puree, 1 tsp turmeric (haldi) powder, ½ tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp garam masala powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, salt to taste and ½ tsp sugar to balance the tartness of the tomatoes. Mix to combine all the ingredients well.

STEP 05

Saute and cook on medium heat for a few minutes.

STEP 06

Add 1 cup cubed paneer and stir well. Bring it to a brisk boil for a few minutes and turn off the heat.
