  • 1/5 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/10 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/20 teaspoon Fenugreek Seeds
  • as needed A Few Curry Leaves

  • 1/10 teaspoon Red Chili Powder

  • 1/5 tablespoon Tamarind Paste
  • 1/5 tablespoon Jaggery

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Wash and chop the gooseberries into small pieces.
  • STEP 2.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and curry leaves.
  • STEP 3.Add the chopped gooseberries, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the gooseberries are soft.
  • STEP 4.Add tamarind paste and jaggery. Mix well and cook for a few more minutes.
  • STEP 5.Allow the thokku to cool down and store it in an airtight container.
  • STEP 6.Serve the amla thokku with rice, roti, or as a side dish.
