A bamboo shoot recipe which is very popular in parts of Nepal. Aloo bodi tama is a recipe made with bamboo shoots and black eyed peas. It is naturally vegan, gluten-free. Aloo bodi tama makes a great side dish with plain rice (cauliflower fried rice or any other grain such as quinoa, couscous or freekeh) or can even be enjoyed by itself with a stew.

Ingredients for Aloo Tama Recipe

  • 0.33 teaspoon mustard oil
  • 0.08 teaspoon methi seeds
  • 0.08 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 0.17 teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 0.33 No.s chopped onions
  • 0.33 No.s chopped tomatoes
  • As required Salt
  • 0.17 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.17 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 0.17 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 No.s chopped boiled potatoes
  • 0.17 cup bamboo shoots
  • 0.17 cup chopped coriander leaves

Directions: Aloo Tama Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.1 heat some oil in a pan and add methi, cumin seeds, ginger garlic paste and chopped onions.

step 2

  • STEP 2.2 as the onions turn pink add tomatoes. Red chilli powder, cumin powder, boiled potatoes and bamboo shoots.

step 3

  • STEP 3.3 mix all the ingredients well and stir fry.

step 4

  • STEP 4.4 garnish with coriander leaves and your aloo tama is ready to be served.
