Aloo chokha originates from the state of Bengal in the Indian subcontinent and is a dish prepared by adding spices to some mashed potatoes and making small balls out of it. Also known as aloo bharta in many other parts of the country, aloo chokha is simple but enough to make you drool. This side dish tastes the best when served with dal and steamed rice.

  • 250 gram Potatoes
  • 50 gram Onions
  • 5 gram Garlic
  • 2 piece green chillies
  • 2 piece dried red chillies
  • 4 gram Salt
  • 8 gram mustard oil

Steps To Prepare

  • STEP 1.Boil the potatoes and mash them with mustard oil

Cooking Directions

  • STEP 1.Heat a pan with mustard oil and add dried red chilies. Fry them until they turn black, set aside.
  • STEP 2.Fry the sliced onions until they are brown. Next, add green chilies and chopped garlic and saute.
  • STEP 3.Add the fried onions and red chilies to the mashed potatoes.
  • STEP 4.Next, adjust salt and crush the red chillies according to your spice preference. Your aloo chokha is done.

Storage And Serving Method

  • STEP 1.Make small balls out of the chokha and serve them as a side dish with rice and dal.
