An easy one-pot preparation of achari ( pickle) aloo (potatoes) with spices. A masaledar dish, Achari Aloo Recipe is a spicy and tangy dry potato sabzi that is spiced with the punjabi style pickle that is finished off with some coriander leaves and a splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Serve it along with Dal Tadka and Phulkas for a simple lunch meal. Ingredients for Achari Aloo Sabji Dry Recipe

  • 1 tablespoon Mustard oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 3 Red chillies broken
  • 4 Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 Onion Finely Chopped
  • 4 Potatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoon Jaggery
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1 tablespoon Achari masala or any punjabi achar

Directions: Achari Aloo Sabji Dry Recipe

step 1

  • STEP 1.Using an electric pressure cooker, turn on the saute mode and let the cooker heat. Then add 1tbsp mustard oil, 1tsp cumin seeds and allow it to crackle. Then add 3 broken red chillies, 4 cloves of garlic chopped,1 onion finely chopped.

  • STEP 1.Saute for 3 to 4 minutes till the onions are softened and lightly brown.

  • STEP 1.Next add 4 peeled and diced potatoes which have been soaked in water. Add 1 tbsp of water to the cooker and drain off the rest of the water and add salt

  • STEP 1.Next add 1 tsp jaggery, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder ,1 tsp garam masala powder and 1 tbsp spoon of achari masala or any punjabi achar.

  • STEP 1.Mix all the ingredients together well.

  • STEP 1.To make a dry sabji, do not add any additional water. Cover the electric pressure cooker and change the mode to ‘manual’ mode and set the timer for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes release the pressure naturally, the red nozzle will go down.then open the pressure cooker.

step 7

  • STEP 1.If a more dry achari aloo is required then saute for a few minutes. Serve with tawa paratha.
