Sindhi cuisine is a wide repository of recipes. Sindh has seen many invaders, traders and travelers throughout history that have influenced the cuisine of the region to a great extent, but sever indigenous factors have also played key role. For instance, Sindhi cuisine makes use of ample amount of local veggies and spices. The snacks belonging to the cuisine are renowned for their richness, sharp flavours and uniqueness. From loaded Dal Pakwan to crispy Koki Roti, the options are endless. Here we list five of our most favourite Sindhi snacks recipes. Have look.
Aloo Tuk Chaat
A tangy chaat made with Sindhi-style crispy-style, spices potatoes. Ideal to be served with rice and dal, or simply as a snack.
Dal Pakwan
The iconic Sindhi breakfast treat. It has two compenents, a thick dal made with split chickpeas, spices and garnished with chillies and chopped onions. This dal is meant to be scooped up in a deep-fried, flat puri-like bread called Pakwan.
Spicy Koki
A paratha-like bread made with spices and onions, roasted till it is hot and crispy.
Churi dal (sindhi moong dal)
Dal cooked on low-flame and very little water, so that it is not soft mushy but slightly bitey and blooming. You can serve it with Malpuas, or as a side dish to puri. Or top it up with more spices and onions and eat it as it is.
Roasted vermicelli with fried potatoes (seyun patata)
A traditional Sindhi breakfast. Here, vermicelli is roasted with chopped, fried potatoes. While cooking vermicelli, make sure you do not overcook it or make it mushy.
