We can blindly pick any of the dals for each day of the week and still not exhaust the list. Besides being absolutely delicious and comforting, dal is one of the best ways to fulfill our daily protein requirement. And let’s not forget, one of the easiest too. Cooking a dal doesn’t take a lot of time and energy, and so it is a go-to meal for everyone from a workaholic to amateur cooks too. You can pair it with rice, roti or paratha, with or without a side dish, and you have a wholesome meal ready for your family.

Panchmel Dal Recipe 

Ingredients 

- 1/4 cup Soaked Chana Dal 

- 1/4 cup Soaked Yellow Moong Dal 

- 1/4 cup Soaked Tur Dal 

- 1 cup Soaked Black Urad Dal 

- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder 

- Salt to Taste 

- 2 Bay Leaves 

- 2 tbsp Ghee 

- Water as Required 

- 2 tbsp Ghee 

- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds 

- 5-6 Cloves 

- 2 Bay Leaves 

- 2 Dried Red Chillies 

- 1 cup chopped Onions 

- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste 

- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder 

- 1/2 tsp Garam Masala Powder 

- 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder 

- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder 

- 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder 

- Salt to Taste 

- 1 cup chopped Tomatoes 

- 1 tbsp Ghee 

- 2 Dried Red Chillies 

- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder 

- Coriander Sprig for garnish 

Method: 

. First take all dals together in a pan, and add turmeric powder, salt, bay leaves, ghee and water to it.  

. Mix a little, cover and let it cook. 

. Now in another wok, add cumin seeds in hot oil. Let it crackle. 

. Add onion, cloves, tomatoes, and red chillies along with other spices to the oil, mix well, and pour over the cooked dal, right before serving. 

. Serve hot. 

Enjoy this tasty treat with rice or roti.
