Want To Store Chapatis For Long Hours? Here’s The Hack

If we go around the country to see some of the most widely eaten comfort foods, undoubtedly, most of them will have chapatis or rotis in them. From dal-roti to dal makhani and chapatis, we Indians just can’t get enough of this comforting flatbread. A soft, fluffy and perfectly cooked chapati is enough to make someone’s day.

Personally speaking, I’ll be more than happy to be served a plate of dal-roti-sabzi everyday of the week. The flatbread is comforting in its own way. However, after living alone, making chapatis was a hard nut to crack. The process is comparatively time-consuming and laborious and I’m too lazy to put in the effort. Hence, to satisfy my cravings and nutritional needs and to save time and effort, I came up with some easy and handy tips to store chapatis for long hours. And trust me when I say this, they worked wonders for me. So, here are some easy tips that you need to follow to store chapatis for long hours without worrying about spoilage.

1. To store chapatis for long durations, use warm water to knead the dough. This will make the dough softer that will yield soft and fluffy chapatis.

2. Bring the chapatis to room temperature before storing them in any container.

3. To prevent the chapatis from sticking to each other, place parchment paper/wax paper between every roti in a pile.

4. Cover the piled chapatis in aluminium foil to preserve the moisture.

5. After covering the pile in aluminium foil, store the chapatis in an airtight container.

6. If you are storing the chapatis in the refrigerator, make sure you thaw them before reheating.

7. The best way to have soft chapatis is to heat them in the microwave by covering them in a paper towel.

We hope that these tips will help you relish chapatis any time you want without having to worry about time and effort. Try them out and let us know how they turned out.
