Arthritis is a disease that causes swelling and pain in various joints of the body. Generally, it occurs in people above 50 years of age, but at present, not only young people but also children are affected. Arthritis does not happen suddenly but spreads gradually, so proper treatment is essential. While allopathy does have medications for it, you can even take the help of Ayurveda to treat arthritis. All types of arthritis-like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Gout, Juvenile Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylosis etc., can be treated easily through Ayurveda.

Ayurveda and Arthritis

Usually, arthritis is genetic, but sometimes it can occur due to some severe or infected disease. Thus, arthritis is known as Aam-Vata in Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, poor digestion, bad eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, and Vata dosha have been considered among arthritis causes. In Ayurveda, arthritis is treated entirely and not just by eliminating the pain. The treatment of arthritis in Ayurveda is well-planned; hence special attention is paid to the sufferer's lifestyle and diet. For example, if arthritis is caused due to vitiation of Vata and faulty digestion in a person, Ayurveda focuses on pacifying the imbalanced physical energies of the patient and improving digestion.

Ayurvedic Treatment

In treating arthritis, particular exercises are given to the patient once or twice a week before bed. In addition, 25 ml of castor oil is advised with milk. Apart from this, treatment is done based on the symptoms and the severity of the disease. During the treatment, the patient is given anti-rheumatic and anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the pain and plenty of rest.

Diet Treatment

It is suggested to provide precise attention to the diet for patients with arthritis. For example, avoid food containing oils, spices and a high-protein diet. Instead, take bathua, fenugreek, mustard greens, spinach, green vegetables, moong, lentils, parwal, luffa, bottle gourd, grapes, pomegranate, papaya, etc. Apart from this, regular consumption of garlic and ginger is also beneficial in its treatment.

Takeaway Tip: To treat arthritis, it is imperative to have a robust immune and digestive system. Therefore, take special care of food along with regular exercise.
