Teh Talua: A Tasty Indonesian Tea Made With Eggs

But have you sipped on this tea made with egg before? Teh Talua is a hot tea that is typically made up of egg yolks along with other ingredients and with a dash of calamansi juice. Calamansi juice is a Filipino version of lemonade. It is said that this egg tea originated from West Sumatra in Indonesia a few years ago. This drink is defined as unique as it's prepared with egg yolks which is something you can barely think of adding in your tea while brewing one. Ingredients-  

  • 2 tablespoons sugar  
  • Water for boiling  
  • 2 egg yolks  
  • Tea as per taste 
  • Pinch of cardamom  
  • lime juice

Steps in the making-  

  • Take a saucepan and add water, mix it with sugar and a tablespoon of tea.  Boil for a while and sprinkle some cardamom powder over the top.  
  • Whisk the egg yolks well until smooth and add it into a glass. 
  • Pour hot tea over the glass filled with egg yolks and finally add a dash of lime juice into it. 
  • There you go, your egg tea is ready.
