For the unversed, collagen is a protein that holds your body together. It provides structure and strength to your body. Collagen is present in many parts of your body but especially in your skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Collagen is made of a combination of two amino acids called proline and glycine. The most important nutrient that is required for the production of collagen is vitamin C. Collagen acts as a binding agent. This insoluble and fibrous protein is secreted by connective tissue cells. Collagen protects delicate organs like kidneys and is good for your skin and hair health. Here are a few food items that destroy collagen and affect your body’s health.

Refined Carbs

Carbohydrates containing food items including bread, pasta, cookies, etc. contain collagen damaging chemicals. This means, having them daily can diminish the quality of your tissue.

Fried Food Items

One of the most commonly eaten fried foods is French fries. Nowadays, almost everyone and especially kids just can’t live without having fried foods and probably that’s the reason why most of them are experiencing hair fall and at an early age and are developing wrinkles too.

Sweetened-Beverage

Having sweetened beverages can lead to instant insulin spikes that can gradually cause inflammation. This eventually creates glycotoxins and inflammation which is not good for collagen.

Processed Meats

If you are fond of having processed meats every now and then then you need a reality check as opting for these is going to affect your skin and hair health. Therefore, you should stay away from edibles like salami, hot dogs, lunchmeat etc.

Dairy Products

Dairy products are usually considered good for your overall health but you would be shocked to know that they are actually not good for your skin. Their excessive intake can affect insulin levels and cause too much oil production which will eventually lead to the onset of cystic blemishes.
