We all have seen movies like Satya, Jolly LLB, Nayak, Calcutta Mail, Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar and Raat Gayi Baat Gayi etc. What has made these and many other movies special is the work done by versatile actor and director Saurabh Shukla. He is one of the underrated actors the Bollywood has ever got and has never failed to impress the audience through is acting, direction or screenwriting. No wonder, we are all his fans!
Just like all of us, Saurabh Shukla is a big-time foodie. Recently in a conversation with Unfiltered By Samdish, Shukla talked about his experiences and his childhood. He disclosed one of his favourite dishes that used to be the absolute comfort food in his childhood. Can you guess what it could be? Well, it is the ‘Sheddo Bhaat’.
During his interview, Saurabh Shukla told that ‘There are a lot of versions of Sheddo Bhaat. Sheddo Bhaat is boiled rice, boiled potato and any boiled vegetable you can take. Put a lot of ghee on rice and potato. Mash the potato with ghee’. He added ‘if you eat eggs, you can add fried eggs and mash everything together’. Shukla told that how his friends like Manoj Bajpayee, Manoj Pahwa and other have also tasted this meal. Shukla then explained how easy and quick this dish is. ‘The most interesting about Sheddo Bhaat is that it’s like the Indian fast food, its easy and quick’.
‘Why it became my favourite because my mother used to work in the university. So, she didn’t have the luxury of making, you know, a seven-course meal every day. She often used to make Sheddo Bhaat and this dish became my favourite', added Shukla.

Ingredients
- 3 potatoes
- 1 tsp mustard oil
- 1 green chili (finely chopped)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
Method
- Boil potatoes and make sure the potatoes are really soft. You can also boil potatoes along with the rice.
- Add salt while boiling the potatoes as this will help the potatoes in getting soft.
- When done, peel the potatoes and mash them properly.
- Add mustard oil, chopped green chilies and chopped onions. Mix it up well.
- Pair it with cooked rice and ghee, and you are done!!
