Like panzerotti, the pizza puff is perhaps one of the most popular side snacks. However, the unique recipe combines the taste of both puff and pizza. This pocket dough is loaded with tomato sauce, pizza sauce, veggies and cheese, later filled in the puff pastry. Typically, it is deep-fried but can be baked in the oven too until crisp. Ingredients For Pizza Puff

  • All purpose flour - 250 grams 
  • Salt - as per taste 
  • Baking Powder - 1 tsp 
  • Tomato - 1 finely chopped 
  • Carrot - 2 finely chopped 
  • Capsicum - 1 finely chopped 
  • Sweet corn - 1/4 cup 
  • Mozzarella Cheese - 1/2 cup (grated) 
  • Tomato Sauce - 2 tbsp 
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch finely chopped 
  • Oregano - 1/2 tsp 
  • Oil - for frying 

How to make pizza puff?

Pizza puff dough 

Put all-purpose flour in a bowl, then add half a teaspoon of salt, a little baking powder, oil and knead it like a dough with cold water. After kneading the dough, cover it for a while and keep it aside (this will set the dough). 

Pizza puff stuffing 

  1. It is easy to make pizza puff stuffing. First, take a pan, put two spoons of oil, and keep it on the gas to heat. 
  2. When the oil is hot, add finely chopped ginger and fry it till it becomes light brown. 
  3. Add finely chopped carrots, capsicum and sweet corn and fry it on the gas for 1 minute. 
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes, fry them well in a pan with the rest of the ingredients. 
  5. Now add salt, oregano and 1 tsp water to the mixture in the pan and cook it for a while. 
  6. Cook the vegetables for 2-3 minutes. Now, add tomato sauce on top of it and cook it for 1 minute. 
  7. Pizza puff stuffing is ready; keep it aside to cool down and add mozzarella cheese to it. 

Fill the stuffing in the dough 

  1. Now set the dough of pizza puff by applying oil on your hand and making small balls out of it. 
  2. Roll out the balls long. Put a little stuffing on one of the two different balls that you have rolled. Keep the other rolled flour dough on it and close it with light hands by pressing it from all sides. 
  3. Now prepare all the pizza puff stuffing like this and keep them in the fridge for half an hour. 

Fry pizza puff 

  1. Heat oil in a pan and take out the pizza puffs that you have kept in the fridge to set. When the oil is heated, put pizza puffs in it and fry them one by one. 
  2. When the pizza puff is fried well from both sides, take it out on a plate. One by one, you fry all the pizza puffs in the same way. 
  3. Your pizza puff is ready, and you can eat it with your favourite chutney or sauce. As crispy as it looks from the outside, it will be soft and cheesy from the inside.
