Offbeat Oat Meals That Are More Than Boring, Regular Oatmeal

If you are looking for a healthy ingredient to incorporate in your daily diet that adds energy while packing in the right nutrients, then oats or oatmeal is your mate. And no, having oatmeal is not as boring as having a blotchy milk oat mix. Oats can get funky when eaten the right way. Look at five close-to-heart oats based foods that I swear by. Probably, you will too, by the end of the write-up.

Toasted Oats Cereal

Get fine cut refined oats and toast it as a topping on corn flakes or muesli. These add more fibre to your cereal bowl while ensuring that you stay fuller. Additionally, oats add spunk to the taste factor too. You can soak the oats in some honey too for extra flavouring.

Oats Cutlet

Keep toasted oats stored in a jar and see the umpteen dishes this could be part of. Use this as part of veggies or potato or any mashed cutlet base that it. Coat the cutlet with oats again before adding a layer of breadcrumbs. Pan fry for awesome results.

Oats Dosa

Roast and grind the regular oats from your pantry. Add this to your usual poha to make an amazingly healthy dosa batter. Treat the batter, sambhar and chutney in the usual manner. Trust me, the taste of oats dosa is even better than the usual dosa you have. Perhaps you feel better because of the fibre intake jump too.

Oats Cereal Bar

This is an awesome filler and a good snacker for toddlers too. Simply roast some murmura or puffed ruce along with steel cut oats. Cool it donw before adding some raisings, chopped dry fruits of choice and jaggery powder. Double boil some chocolate and pour over the mix. Neatly set into longish shaped moulds or shape into a bar resembling granola bars out of a pack. Allow it to freeze for half a day. Your homemade granola bar is ready.

Oats Tiramisu

Soak oats overnight and add it to the black coffee that you lace on to the tiramisu base finger cake. The oats add a bite to the regular tiramisu while also upping its "health" quotient. Some guilt over feasting on dessert stands reduced thanks to the oats after all.

Oats is a healthy companion that is versatile too. It works wonders for your gut as well as keeps you pumped up and jumpy. The taste needs some adaption and is acquired gradually. However, once done it grows onto you. Have an oaty day!
