The Met Gala 2025, held on the 5th of May at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, as always, was a testament to fashion and culture. Pertaining to this year’s theme, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ which goes in sync with The Met's spring exhibition, celebrating the history of Black fashion, celebrities across the globe graced the red carpet in aesthetically designed outfits.
Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani, had all the eyes on them. Apart from fashion, the meticulous curation of the evening’s menu by the editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, grabbed the attention. Known for her discerning taste, Anna Wintour enforced specific dietary guidelines to ensure both the comfort of the celebrities and the theme of the Gala.
Even though the menu for the night is still not revealed, the food items that were banned from the menu of all the stars are worth the hype. As per reports, the ingredients and dishes that were banned at the Met Gala 2025 include:
Garlic
Known for a strong smell and taste, Anna Wintour rightfully banned garlic from the menu of the Met Gala 2025. Reportedly, Josh Jackson, executive chef and owner-proprietor of Great Taste Catering in Los Angeles, told the media that Anna Wintour didn’t want the food to affect the breath of celebrity guests. Guessing another reason, he reportedly said, “Also, there are several people who are actually allergic to the allium family of bulbous plants, which is rare but possible. But that's maybe a stretch."
Onion
With similar reasons for banning garlic, the speculations are that the use of onion was restricted as it gives an unpleasant breath, which could be embarrassing during conversations, interviews, and even photoshoots.
Chives
As for chives, reports suggest that Josh Jackson clarified, "She doesn't want to see chives stuck in the guests' teeth. It's understandable."
Parsley
To avoid any green stuff getting stuck to the teeth of star-studded celebrities and ruining the photoshoots, Anna Wintour reportedly banned parsley.
Bruschetta
The Italian appetiser was also removed from the Met Gala 2025 menu. Reports suggest that Bruschetta can get too messy as the toppings easily spill and stain an expensive designer outfit.
