Lots of people have tried making paneer at home but fail to get the soft and spongy texture. Here's the right way to make homemade paneer using just three simple ingredients.

Ingredient

  • 5 Cup whole Milk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Method to make homemade paneer

  • Take a small bowl, add lemon juice, white vinegar and about ¼ cup water. Mix and set aside.
  • Now take a deep saucepan, pour the full-fat whole milk and heat it for approx. 10 minutes over medium heat. Do not let the milk boil.
  • Add the lemon vinegar mixture to the milk. Stir until milk coagulates. Do not rush to strain the coagulated milk. Boil for another 3-4 minutes, or until the milk is clean and watery and no trace of white milk remains. Turn off the heat.
  • Let it rest for another 5 minutes.
  • Filter the cottage cheese/curd through a cheesecloth ( you can also use a soup strainer or a very fine sieve ). Take the fabric from all sides and twist it into a knot. Squeeze as much water as possible out of the cheese before tying the knot.
  • Put a heavy utensil or some weight on a load of cheese and leave for 3-4 hours to filter all the remaining water.
  • After the water is squeezed out of the curd, a soft curd is glued together to make a block of spongy paneer.

You can keep the paneer fresh in the refrigerator for 3-4 days if stored in a dry airtight container. Enjoy varieties of recipes with this homemade paneer.
