Halloween cocktails are a chance to bring a little theatre to the drinks menu by adding some dark colours, unusual garnishes and flavours that feel appropriate for the spooky celebrations. From deep red pours and smoky finishes to citrus-led mixes with theatrical presentations, these beverages can make a Halloween party feel more thoughtfully arranged. Instead of depending only on food decorations, the right mix of spirits, mixers, fruit and spices can give every glass a character of its own.
For some inspiration, mixologist Madan Kumar from Bahati, Bengaluru, shares a selection of cocktail recipes that bring together innovative flavour blends with appealing festive presentation. Whether you are hosting a Halloween house party at home for the weekend or planning a themed evening with friends, these cocktails offer ideas beyond the usual drinks. Each recipe has its own character, making the drinks as fascinating to serve as they are to sip.

- 20 ml kokum syrup
- 30 ml roasted pineapple puree
- 15 ml fresh lime juice
- 1 small Kanthari chilli
- Ice cubes
Method:
1. In a cocktail shaker, add tequila, kokum syrup, roasted pineapple puree and fresh lime juice. Fill it with ice so that the ingredients chill before mixing.
2. Shake it vigorously for about 15 to 20 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and frosty.
3. Strain the mixture into a serving glass filled with fresh ice, leaving behind any fruit pulp or leftover ice from the shaker.
4. Add a small Kanthari chilli as garnish and serve instantly. The roasted pineapple softens the taste of sharp kokum, while the chilli brings a gradual hit of heat.
