Green Pea Fritters Are A Tasty Way To Use Up Extra Peas

Pea fritters are made by mixing mashed peas with flour, spices, and eggs to form a batter that is then fried in oil. The peas are an excellent source of plant-based protein, fibre, and vitamins, making them an ideal food for those who are looking for a healthier alternative to traditional snack foods. Additionally, peas are low in calories, with one cup of peas containing only around 130 calories.

When making pea fritters, it's important to use a light, healthy oil such as olive oil or avocado oil to avoid adding excess fat and calories to the dish. Additionally, using whole wheat flour instead of white flour will add extra fibre and nutrients to the fritters.

Pea fritters are also highly versatile and can be customized to suit individual preferences. For example, you can add spices such as cumin, coriander, or chilli powder to give the fritters a spicy kick. Alternatively, you can add herbs such as mint or parsley to give them a fresh, herbal flavour. Additionally, you can top the fritters with various ingredients such as cheese, avocado, or yoghurt to add extra flavour and nutrition.

This recipe uses the natural creaminess and saltiness of feta cheese to offset the vegetable and create a light and delicious snack that will turn even the pickiest kids into fans of peas.
