For those who love burgers, the instant side dish to pair them with it is a pack of French fries. And getting free fries would be like cherries on top of a cake, right? Well, it seems like your prayers are answered, as McDonald’s has decided to offer free fries for all, but only for its customers in the US and UK.

The announcement has created a lot of excitement among the burger giant’s patrons. So what is the offer exactly? According to reports by the Sun UK, from October 28, every Friday would be a ‘Free French Fries Day’ across all McDonald’s outlets in the US and UK.

The offer can be availed only via online order placement on the burger chain’s app. All one has to do is place an order of a minimum amount of 1 USD on a Friday on the app from their nearest branch and their order will be delivered with a packet of medium-size French fries for free. The offer is valid until December 2022.  

Twitter users have gone crazy over the latest offer. While we in India are not getting the free fries, that shouldn’t stop us from enjoying the fries. Try this easy recipe to make crispy and fresh restaurant-style fries at home.  

Ingredients:  

    5 peeled and sliced potatoes  

    2 tbsp corn syrup  

    White sugar  

    Oil  

Method:  

    Begin by placing the potatoes in a bowl of water, in a way that they are immersed in it.  

    After five minutes, take them out and dry them.  

    Next, dip the potatoes in a bowl of boiling water, mixed with corn syrup and sugar.  

    Let it sit in the fridge for five minutes before you take it out and pat dry.  

    After you have drained the water, take a baking dish and spread out the potatoes.  

    Refrigerate for half an hour, covered in a plastic wrap.  

    Finally, throw in the potatoes in small batches in a deep-fryer with pre-heated oil.  

    Once all of them are golden-brown and crispy, season with table salt.  

    Serve with tomato ketchup.
