Cortado: A Spanish Coffee To Warm You Up This Winter

We are moving closer to the winter season as the evenings are getting chilly and breezy. Who else has felt a sudden change in the weather? Brewed by mixing espresso with an equal amount of warm milk, it is one such coffee that has a non-foamy appearance instead of a bubbly top. It’s the slightly steamed milk that is poured over the shot of espresso that gives the drink a less frothy yet a perfect coveted texture. Moreover, the dash of warm milk also helps in reducing the acidic content in this hot drink. Cortada is one of the most popular hot beverages in the world that comes from Spain. The word ‘cortado’ means ‘to cut’ which is a subtle reference to the steamed milk cutting down the foam head on top.   • 2-3 tablespoon filter coffee powder/ fresh coffee powder 
  • Half cup water   
  • Half cup milk 
  • Sugar as per taste 

Steps in the making-

  • Grind the coffee beans and then pour the finely grinded powder into a cup. Meanwhile, also steam the milk. 
  • Boil the water and then pour it over half the cup full of espresso. Instantly mix it with steamed milk at the end. 
  • Voila! Your cortado is ready to serve and relish.
