Cortado: A Spanish Coffee To Warm You Up This Winter

Brewed by mixing espresso with an equal amount of warm milk, it is one such coffee that has a non-foamy appearance instead of a bubbly top. It’s the slightly steamed milk that is poured over the shot of espresso that gives the drink a less frothy yet a perfect coveted texture. The word ‘cortado’ means ‘to cut’ which is a subtle reference to the steamed milk cutting down the foam head on top. Ingredients:

  • 2-3 tablespoon filter coffee powder/ fresh coffee powder 
  • Half cup water   
  • Half cup milk 
  • Sugar as per taste 

Steps in the making-

  • Grind the coffee beans and then pour the finely grinded powder into a cup. Meanwhile, also steam the milk. 
  • Boil the water and then pour it over half the cup full of espresso. Instantly mix it with steamed milk at the end. 
  • Voila! Your cortado is ready to serve and relish.
