Over the years sandwich has become an integral part of the food palate with people bringing in variations with the filling. The Stuffed History Of The Chicken Grilled Sandwich
The whole invention of the idea of compressing a healthy filling of chicken dipped in sauces can be dated back to the 1940s. According to various historical accounts, the first chicken sandwich is believed to have been invented in 1946. It was when an Atlanta restaurant owner named Truett Cathy made an alternative to the popular hamburger. The chef is said to have placed a piece of boneless grilled chicken fillet in a bun and went on to call it Chick-fil-A.
Ingredients:
• 200 gms Boneless Chicken
• 1 tbsp Oil
• 2-3 tbsp chopped Onion
• 2 tsp chopped Garlic
• ¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder
• ¼ tsp Chilli Flakes
• ¾ cup boiled Corn
• 1 diced Capsicum
• 2 tsp Dried Oregon
• Chicken Stock
• Salt
For the sauce:
• ½ cup Hung Yoghurt
• ½ Black Pepper Powder
• ¼ tsp Dried Oregano
• 1 tsp Red Chilli Sauce
• Salt
For frying:
• Butter
• Bread Slice
Method:
• Over medium heat, place a pan and pour oil. To this add finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent
• Now add garlic and sauté for a few seconds. Then add black pepper powder, chilli flakes, and cumin seeds powder. Mix it all well and add boiled corn, and capsicum and sauté well until the vegetables soften
• Now add the shredded chicken and mix well. Make sure everything is coated in spices
• To this add dry oregano only towards the end. If it is too dry add the chicken stock a little to avoid drying the chicken. Now add salt as per taste, give it a mix and cook for a few seconds
• In the bowl transfer, the curd, and add a pinch of black pepper powder, dried oregano, red chilli sauce, and salt. Give it a good mix
• Now apply butter on both sides of the bread slices. Keep it aside
• Pour the curd mix into the chicken filling and mix well. Now add the chicken filling between the two bread slices
• Apply butter to the toaster before tossing in the filled bread slices. Toast it until the bread changes colour to a golden brown. Serve!
The simple joy of biting into an overloaded sandwich with a filling dipped in the fiery sauce along with the goodness of vegetables, is divine.
