Also known as Chabeel, this drink can be found at every corner of the city, as soon as summers start.
Chabeel consists of rose milk, water and some Roohafza syrup. It has crushed ice on the top that acts as an instant thirst quencher. Actress Sonnalli Seygall, who debuted with Pyaar Ka Punchanama was recently seen in her Instagram stories, enjoying the drink. Clad in a soft yellow suit, she held out the rosy drink and asked her followers if they recognise the drink that she’s enjoying. While majority of her followers knew what chabeel is, some of them didn’t.
Chabeel’s deep spiritual significance for the Sikh community makes it an important drink to be served during sewa. However, not only is chabeel a blessed drink, it also has many health benefits. Chabeel protects your stomach from acidity and digestive heat. The drink is also known to help reduce uric acid. The kachhi lassi or chabeel reduces headaches and is extremely beneficial in summer as it controls body temperature. The drink will make sure you stay hydrated for most parts of the day and will also help you tackle stomach problems like bloating. Ingredients:
- ½ cup rose syrup Using Rooh Afza
- 2 cups milk used whole milk
- 4-5 cups water
- 1-2 cups ice cubes
- Sugar to taste
Method:
- In a huge vessel or bowl, add the milk, Rooh Afza and water.
- Add the crushed ice and give it a good mix.
- Keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Serve chilled
