Both your health and the health of your unborn child gets affected by what you consume while pregnant. A balanced diet helps you stay pregnant and ensure that your baby develops normally. You can eat nutritious meals like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to satisfy your nutritional needs. There are several fruits and vegetables that are not healthy to eat when pregnant, so you can't just eat any of them. There are some fruits that may not be good for your body, even though the majority of them do include the nutrients and vitamins that your body needs when pregnant, especially when the foetus experiences a growth phase. While others can cause a miscarriage, some fruits have even been shown to have an impact on the health of the foetus.  

Following is a list of fruits you should avoid eating when pregnant: 

Papaya

Although papayas are one of the fruits that are not recommended for pregnant women, they are a fruit that is high in macronutrients and vitamins that are vital for your body. It's not a good idea to consume papaya when pregnant because it can raise your body temperature quickly. The fruit also contains a lot of latex, which can cause menstrual cramps, bleeding, and even miscarriage. It's recommended to avoid it because it might also harm the developing foetus. Avoid consuming papayas that are both ripe and unripe.

We know, you are surprised to learn that this common fruit is included on the list of foods to stay away from while pregnant. Well, bananas are generally safe to eat while pregnant, but there are several situations where they should be avoided. Bananas are not recommended for consumption by women with allergies, diabetes, or gestational diabetes. Chitinase, a latex-like compound that is a well-known allergy, is found in bananas. Additionally, it raises body heat. Bananas should not be consumed by women who have chitinase allergies. Bananas should be avoided at all costs by diabetics as they contain a significant amount of sugar. 

Tamarind

Though tamarind may come to mind right away when you have a tart need during pregnancy, this fruit really has more negative effects than positive ones. Tamarind has long been used as a remedy for nausea and morning sickness. But when it comes to consuming tamarind, moderation is the key. Tamarinds are exceptionally high in vitamin C, which is one of the main reasons they are listed among the fruits to stay away from while pregnant. Tamarind includes a lot of vitamin C, therefore eating too much of it can make your body produce less progesterone. A miscarriage, preterm birth, and even cell damage to the foetus can result from low progesterone levels. Therefore, watch your tamarind intake, especially during the first trimester.
