A Wholesome and Spicy One Pot Chicken Fry Masala Dish for Dinner

Chicken Fried is already one of the favourite fried recipes made from chicken. The use of coconut milk is a great flavour enhancer to the dish. A filling dinner meal demands a great tasting chicken, rich in spices and flavour, which can be enjoyed with simple stuffed or fried breads or rice. With many variants available, chicken fried has a general yet lovely taste, owing to simple ingredients combining to make an amazing dish. Made using grinding fresh coconut flesh along with warm/ hot water, coconut milk brings out the best flavours in a dish.

Chicken Fried with coconut milk starts with marinated chicken, which is fried on a medium heat. Coconut milk is simmered into a spicy curry as a deep fried appetizer. Marination of chicken pieces is done with flour, spices and yogurt followed by frying till golden brown and crispy. The chicken tastes juicy and tender and crispy from the outside. The overall taste is creamy, with juicy, chicken pieces. 

Preparation of Chicken Fried with Coconut Milk

The basic chicken fried recipe is simmered in a onion-tomato-spices gravy, which is then combined with a good amount of coconut milk.

Ingredients:

For Chicken Fry

  • 3-4 kg Chicken pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 teaspoon Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt as required for coconut

For Curry

  • 5 tablespoon Coconut oil
  • 1.5 finely chopped Onion 
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 Teaspoon Chicken Masala Mix
  • 1 Teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Chilli Powder
  • 3 Tomato 
  • 2 Cup Coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

Preparation of Chicken Fried with Coconut Milk

  1. Marination of Chicken Pieces- Mix the chicken pieces with half tsp of turmeric powder, two tsp chilli powder, half tsp black pepper powder, one tsp garam masala powder, one tsp lemon juice and salt. Mix thoroughly all the spices with the chicken. Allow it to rest in the refrigerator for two hours
  2. Heat four tablespoon coconut oil in a pan. Add the rested-marinated chicken pieces and shallow fry them. Cook till the chicken turns nice golden-brown
  3. In another pan, heat one tablespoon of oil, add about one and half finely chopped onions. Saute till onions become transparent
  4. Add one teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, some curry leaves. Saute this too until raw smell goes away
  5. Add curry spices: Add half a teaspoon turmeric powder, one tsp chilli powder, one tsp coriander powder. Cook with these masalas for a few minutes
  6. Cut and chop three tomatoes to add to the gravy. Cook this till oil separates. Now, mix a teaspoon of garam masala and two teaspoons of Chicken masala.
  7. Add two cups coconut milk and let it boil
  8. As it starts bubbling, add fried chicken pieces and mix
  9. Cover the pan with a lid. Let it cook for ten minutes
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves

Chicken Fried with Coconut milk is a restaurant style dish, mostly liked by children too and has the goodness of coconut milk. This juicy, delicious chicken dish can be eaten with rice and even idli. It is a perfect dish for the upcoming guests or a nice Sunday evening supper.
