Skip using refined flour and bake these wholesome wheat butter cookies to make your teatime more enjoyable. Crisp from the outside with buttery goodness in every bite, and very easy to make and perfect to pair with everyday chai or coffee.

Ingredients

1 cup whole wheat flour (atta) ½ cup unsalted butter, softened ⅓ cup powdered sugar ½ tsp vanilla extract ¼ tsp baking powder 1–2 tbsp milk (if needed) A pinch of salt

Step 1

In a bowl, beat some softened unsalted butter with powdered sugar until the mixture turns pale and smooth. Now, add vanilla extract and mix well again.

Step 2

To this, now add whole wheat flour, baking powder and salt. Mix everything to make a soft, smooth dough.

Step 3

Take small portions of dough and roll them to make small flattened discs. Keep this in the refrigerator for about 10–15 minutes so that the cookies hold their shape while baking.

Step 4

Preheat the air fryer to about 160°C and arrange the cookies in a single layer. Air fry this for about 8 to 10 minutes, until you see the edges have turned golden brown.

Step 5

Let the cookies cool down thoroughly and then transfer them to an airtight box to enjoy later on.
