Whip Up Moong Dal Appe For A Healthy South Indian Snack

Appe is a popular South Indian snack that can be whipped up for a healthy breakfast and enjoyed as a mid-meal munchie. To make it even healthier, you can skip the rice and make appe with moong dal.

Ingredients

1 cup moong dal 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds 1/4 cup grated coconut 1 green chilli 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder Salt to taste Water as needed

Step 1

Rinse and soak moong dal and fenugreek seeds for at least 5 hours.

Step 2

Add grated coconut, green chilli, turmeric, cumin , and salt. Grind till smooth.

Step 3

Add water to adjust the consistency. Let the batter ferment.

Step 4

Heat the appe pan or mould and pour in the batter.

Step 5

Cook till appe are golden brown on both sides. Serve with sambar or coconut chutney.
