In what’s become the internet’s most recent obsession just in time for holiday season, candied cranberries are catching on due to the ‘popping’ sound its crunchy sugar shell makes when bitten into. Transform the sensational speciality by swapping fresh cranberries with seedless green or black grapes to feature them as an appetiser on your cheeseboard.
2 cups seedless green grapes 2 cups orange juice/Sprite 1 cup sugar
Rinse the grapes well and pat them dry before tipping them into a bowl and pouring the orange juice or Sprite over them to cover completely.
Add the sugar to a high-speed blender and blitz them into a fine powder.
Strain the soaked grapes and put them into a Ziploc bag followed by the powdered sugar.
Seal and shake the bag vigorously to coat the grapes thoroughly, ensuring there are no green spots.
Transfer them to a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure to separate each piece from the other.
Preheat the oven to 93°C and bake the grapes for 5 minutes, until the sugar coating hardens to form a shell.
Cool them completely before transferring them to an air-tight container and storing in the fridge until ready to eat.
