The Veesova Koli Seafood Festival happens annually in the second or third week of January. Celebrating the Koli community’s home-style recipes, this year, the fest is scheduled for 23rd, 24th, and 25th January. To make the most of the event, don’t miss out on these 5 local dishes.
Bombil fry is the famous Bombay duck that is crispy on the outside with a soft interior. Served with a squeeze of lemon, it is a Versova classic.
With thick slices of fresh kingfish, the coastal dish is marinated in local and then pan-fried to perfection.
As the name suggests, it is made by stuffing a whole pomfret with koli masala made with coconut, coriander, green chillies, and garlic.
If you love prawns, don’t miss trying Koli prawns masala at the Versova seafood festival. Their unique tangy flavour and the spicy gravy make them a must-try.
Tisriya masala is made by tossing fresh clams in coconut and a blend of spices. The finger-licking coastal dish is served with bakhri or rice.
