India loves its sweets, and so does the world. When you mix gulab jamun and French croissants, you get the best of both worlds in one bite. Here is an easy recipe to follow.
1 sheet puff pastry 6 mini gulab jamuns, ready-made 1 tbsp thick sweetened cream 1 tbsp chopped pistachio 1 tsp rose petals 1 tsp cardamom powder 1 tsp melted butter Powdered sugar, as needed A few saffron strands
Roll out the puff pastry sheet thinly on a floured board. Cut into little triangles, much like a typical croissant.
Place 1 tsp sweetened cream on the widest border of each triangle. Add one little gulab jamun, a pinch of cardamom powder, and pistachios.
Roll the dough from the broad side to the tip to make little croissants. Curve the corners gently inward.
Brush with melted butter and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 18-22 minutes, until golden and flaky.
Make a sugar syrup with saffron strands and rose petals. Set aside. Add the gulab jamun croissants to it.
Let it soak. Garnish with pistachios, saffron, and rose petals. Serve warm!
