Lemonade is the quintessential summer beverage for many reasons. But why not take it a level further by including ginger in the mix? Not only does it add a more earthly touch to the drink, but also provides a variety of nutrients that your body needs during the summer season.
1/4 cup fresh ginger, sliced 1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup fresh lemon juice 4 cups cold water Ice Lemon slices and mint (optional)
Boil sugar, water, and ginger for ten minutes to make ginger syrup. Strain and cool.
In a pitcher, mix together ginger syrup, lemon juice, and cold water.
Refrigerate for one hour to chill.
To serve, pour over ice and top with mint leaves and lemon slices.
