Moong Dal Appe is a wholesome South Indian dish made using soaked and ground yellow moong dal, mixed with vegetables and spices. Cooked in a traditional appe (paniyaram) pan, these bite-sized dumplings are lightly crisp on the outside and soft inside.
1 cup yellow moong dal (soaked 3–4 hours) 1 green chilli 1-inch ginger ¼ cup finely chopped onion ¼ cup grated carrot 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves ¼ tsp turmeric powder ¼ tsp cumin seeds Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil (for greasing appe pan) Water as needed (for grinding)
Grind soaked moong dal with ginger and green chilli to a smooth batter.
Mix in onion, carrot, coriander, turmeric, cumin, and salt.
Heat the pan, grease with oil, and pour batter into cavities.
Cook on a low flame till golden on both sides.
Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
