This is a classic Mangalore-style mango curry, also known as Maavinakayi Curry. This tangy and sweet curry highlights the tropical flavours of mangoes, which are a staple in coastal Karnataka cuisine.
2-3 peeled and chopped raw mangoes 1 cup grated coconut 4-5 dried red chillies 1 tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp fenugreek seeds ½ tsp turmeric powder 2 tbsp jaggery Salt to taste 2 tbsp coconut oil 1 sprig curry leaves
Cook the mangoes with turmeric in water until they turn soft.
Grind coconut, red chillies, mustard, and fenugreek into a paste.
Add the paste, jaggery, and salt to the mangoes, and simmer them for 5-7 minutes.
Temper with mustard, curry leaves and red chillies in coconut oil.
Serve with rice and dosa.
