Try Crisp Bread Upma To Kickstart Your Mornings

Prepare this wonderful, spicy, and incredibly tasty Indian breakfast with only pantry goods readily available in your kitchen. It's so simple to make. Bread upma is just bread that has been tossed in a spicy mixture of spices, herbs, onions, and tomatoes. The aroma from ginger, green chillies and curry leaves gives it a mesmerising uplift, making it an ideal breakfast for bread lovers.

Ingredients

6 slices of bread 3 tablespoons of oil ½ teaspoon of mustard seeds A few curry leaves ½ medium-sized onion, finely chopped 1 green chilli ½ teaspoon of ginger paste 2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped ½ teaspoon of  turmeric 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chilli powder

Ingredients

½ teaspoon of sugar ½ small-sized capsicum, chopped 2 tablespoons of water 3 tablespoons of coriander leaves Salt to taste

Step 1

First, toast the bread in a toaster or on a tawa until golden brown and crisp. Cut the bread slices into cubes and keep aside.

Step 2

In a large kadai, heat oil. Further add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Sauté till the mustard seeds splutter.

Step 3

Furthermore, add onions, ginger paste and green chilli. Sauté till onions sweat and turn translucent. Now add tomatoes and saute well.

Step 4

Sauté until the tomatoes soften and become mushy. Add turmeric, chilli powder, sugar and salt.

Step 5

Sauté for a minute on a low flame till the spices are cooked well. Add capsicum and continue to saute.

Step 6

Add water and mix the mixture well. Add the toasted bread pieces. Mix gently without breaking the bread pieces.

Step 7

Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Serve bread upma garnished with coriander leaves.
