Tricolour Idli Recipe To Celebrate The 79th Independence Day

This 79th Independence Day, why don’t you celebrate by hoisting the national flag and making tricolour dishes? With idli being the staple breakfast option, here’s how to start your day with tricolour idlis.

Ingredients

1 cup rice ½ cup urad dal Salt to taste Baking soda as required Spinach puree for green colour Carrot puree for orange colour

Step 1

Grind the soaked rice and urad dal into a smooth batter. Add salt and mix well. Ferment overnight.

Step 2

Blend spinach leaves for green colour and carrots for orange.

Step 3

Divide the batter into 3 parts and prepare the orange, white, and green coloured parts.

Step 4

Steam the different colours in separate moulds for about 10 minutes.

Step 5

Arrange them as an Indian flag and serve with sambar and chutney.
