Aanwale ka murabba or gooseberry reserve is a traditional sweet and tangy delicacy made by preserving amla in sugar syrup. It has numerous healthy benefits and is enjoyed as a side dish with meals or as a sweet snack.
500g amla 2 cups sugar 2 cups water 1/2 tsp cardamom powder A pinch of saffron
Wash and prick amla with a fork, boil in water for 5-7 minutes until soft, drain the water and set aside.
Take a pan, mix sugar, water and heat until the sugar dissolves, forming a syrup.
Add boiled amla syrup, cook on low heat until they absorb the syrup and become translucent.
Mix in cardamom and saffron for extra flavour and let it cool completely.
Transfer to a jar and store it in a cool place.
