Traditional Bihari Pua Recipe For A Sweet & Sugary Snack For Chai Breaks

Bihar's all-time favourite dessert is pua. Traditionally, wheat flour is used to prepare it. Mango pickle is typically served alongside it!

Ingredients

2 cups of wheat flour ½ cup milk ½ cup sugar 2-3 tablespoons of grated coconut ½ tablespoon of fennel seeds Oil for frying Water, if needed

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, add the wheat flour and sugar first. Give it a few gentle mixes.

Step 2

Slowly, pour the milk into the mix. Give it a few stirs.

Step 3

Leave it to ferment for 4-5 hours. Add grated coconut and crushed fennel seeds.

Step 4

Heat oil in a deep pot. Take a ladle and scoop a spoonful of the batter, and gently place it into the oil.

Step 5

Fry until golden on medium heat. Pua is supposed to be a little thicker than usual.

Step 6

Repeat until you’ve used up all the batter. Drain out the oil. Let it cool or serve immediately.

Step 7

Pua can also be made with stuffing. For this, you can use coagulated sugar or dry fruits.
