It is very important to store food properly during a heatwave so that it doesn't spoil or cause food poisoning. To ensure the safety of your food, consider these six tips.
Keep groceries out of direct sunlight by storing them in cool, dark places like a pantry or basement.
Set your fridge to 4°C or below and avoid overcrowding to ensure proper air circulation.
Keep fruits and veggies that release ethylene away from each other to keep them from going bad early.
Follow a "first in, first out" approach, using up perishable foods first to minimize waste.
Store fruits and vegetables at room temperature initially, and place raw meat, poultry, and fish on the lower shelf of the fridge.
Frequently check stored food for signs of spoilage and discard any items that appear off.
