Apple crumble is a Christmas dessert that leans on texture rather than decoration. Soft fruit underneath and a crisp topping make it ideal for serving warm after a holiday meal.
4 large apples, peeled and sliced 2 tbsp sugar ½ tsp cinnamon 1 cup flour ½ cup cold butter, cubed ½ cup sugar
Toss apple slices with sugar and cinnamon and spread in a baking dish.
Rub butter into flour and sugar until crumbly.
Scatter the crumble evenly over the apples.
Bake until the top is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
Serve warm, plain or with custard.
